The data is now official: 3 years’ worth of rain fell within two days. Scientists on Greek TV discussing the possibility of the formation of new, permanent lakes in the area. It is a new planet. #ClimateAction #ClimateCrisis #climatecatastrophe

Just goes to show the UNFCCC is not fit for purpose. Need a whole new international negotiating system to reduce emissions. Start by banning lobbyists. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Carbon removal delusion or cash grab in my opinion. We need as much scrutiny and transparency about these projects and their progress so that we can stop funding them as soon as possible. carbonbrief.org/co2-removal-…

We need to spend that money on preparing the world for inevitable climate change. We need to adapt ASAP.

The question is, how many others are doing this? And other Tyson Food plants?

General Mills is yet another food corp with a paltry net-zero plan. The headline is about emissions cuts, but their only apparent strategy is "regenerative ag". Those grazing methods are a *practice*, with mixed GHG results. Not a measurable GHG *outcome* fooddive.com/news/general-mi…

We sent an open letter to call for an immediate retraction & correction. We documented *several pages* of FAO's errors, all of which serve to shrink the beneficial emissions savings of shifting to plant-rich diets. The real benefits are ~6 to 40x larger! universiteitleiden.nl/en/sci…

The @FAO misused my research to publish findings with a pro-meat bias ⚠️ The organization has been outdoing itself to distort the impacts of dietary change on the environment 🧵 theguardian.com/environment/…

When you have an online meeting with a neuroscientist who has been cited >195,000 times and has an h-index of 220 it really brings home just how big (and well funded) the biomedical sciences are in comparison to #ecology and #biodiversity research.

This article goes out every year for the past decade. Absolutely nobody cares. What's going on? @lwhitmarsh

It's amazing the complete lack of urgency from anyone with influence. The film Don't Look Up really got it right. Academics, civil servants, institutions, and the public should be preparing. Mitigation has passed us. theguardian.com/environment/…

"the FAO’s new estimate (which is not peer-reviewed)" This, for me, is the most disturbing fact. When science is conducted by the UNFAO, it is driven by politicians and industry partners, not independent scientists doing peer review. @ProfMarkMaslin vox.com/future-perfect/23738…

I'm disappointed that the University of Cambridge and other top scientific bodies have fallen for this false technology and fatally flawed theory of change. It seems they live in a bubble, and assume all actors are rational and self interested, big mistake.

Did you hear @FAO found that livestock now emits *less* than previously thought? Turns out this was based on problematic models, huge errors that go unreported, and...oh yeah, not actually *measuring* any GHGs in the air vox.com/future-perfect/23738…
