Blum ISD hosted their 5th Annual Exceptional Athletes Tri-County Track Meet and TNMP employees couldn’t wait to run the sensory station for the kids. We don’t know who had more fun! We are grateful to the ISD’s and all those that participated in making this a very special event for all the attendees.

⚡️ Did you know? A pole change isn’t as quick as it looks. A simple replacement can take 4–8 hours, but when you add transformers, communication lines, traffic crossings, and outage coordination, it can turn into a full 8–16 hour job. Every connection matters—done safely, step by step—to keep the power on. 💡

Safety first when using a generator. ⚠️ Never operate a generator inside your home, garage, or near windows and doors—carbon monoxide can build up quickly and become deadly. Always place generators outdoors at least 20 feet from your home, with the exhaust directed away from living spaces. Use heavy-duty extension cords rated for outdoor use, and never plug a generator directly into your home’s electrical system. A little precaution goes a long way—protect yourself and your loved ones by using generators safely.

If you see a downed or damaged power line, stay far away and always assume it’s energized. ⚠️ Signs of a damaged line can include lines on the ground, sagging or low-hanging wires, sparks or arcing, damaged poles, or trees and branches tangled in lines. If a power line is down in water, stay out of the water—it could be energized and extremely dangerous. Call 911 immediately, then notify TNMP so crews can respond safely. Let the experts handle it—your safety always comes first.

To prepare for severe weather, TNMP proactively trimmed vegetation along 375 miles of power lines this last year as part of our System Resiliency Plan. This work helps reduce outages and improve safety during hurricane season. If you’re planning to trim trees: ✔ Never trim within 10 feet of power lines ✔ Contact TNMP before doing any work near wires ✔ Stay safe and leave hazardous trimming to professionals. Hurricane season is here, and our teams are stepping into it with confidence. Crews, equipment, and emergency systems are fully prepped, and we recently completed a full‑scale drill to test our Emergency Operations Plan with a focus on hurricane response. It was a great way to sharpen coordination and make sure we’re ready for whatever the season brings. Thanks to our System Resiliency Plan, we’ve made big strides in strengthening the grid and reducing storm‑related risks. Read more here: tnmp.com/about-us/news-media…
