MEMBER UPDATE: Evergreen Turf owners Jeff Nettleton and Jimmy Foxs’ families have an update to share with the turfgrass community, and requested that we pass it on to you:
"Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is with heavy hearts that we share this news, and we are so sorry to have to do so by email.
This is not the outcome we were hoping and praying for. Today, the trauma physicians informed our family that there is no chance of recovery for Jeff. The damage spans too large a part of his brain, and the improvements we believed we saw over the last few days proved only temporary. He regressed significantly today, and his injury is simply too great to overcome.
Ever the planner, Jeff had prepared advance directives outlining his wishes should he ever face a situation like this. He made the decision to donate his organs so that others may live. Our hope for those recipients is that they honor this gift with the same enthusiasm and genuine love of life that Jeff carried every day. He lived a big life and enjoyed it to the fullest, and he will be missed beyond words.
Nick, BettyAnn, and Kay are with him in El Paso and will remain by his side until it is time for donation. This is an unimaginable loss for his family, and we ask that you continue to lift them up in prayer in the days ahead. No arrangements have been made at this time; a celebration of Jeff's life will be held at a later date.
We are grateful to share better news about Jimmy, who remains in recovery at the hospital and is in good spirits. Thankfully, he has suffered no brain or spinal injury. This week he has undergone two surgeries to repair his leg, jaw, and facial fractures. We expect him to move from the hospital to a recovery facility soon. His jaw will be wired shut for the next six weeks, so he will not be able to take phone calls for some time, and we do not yet have a timeline for his return home.
We are also glad to report that the pilot's surgeries were successful, and he is expected to return home this weekend.
Thank you for your friendship, your patience, and your prayers.”
TPI is keeping Jimmy, Jeff, the pilot, and their families in our thoughts and hearts during this time.
