“It seems unlikely that Carson Wentz re-signed with the Vikings to be the third-string quarterback this season, or that Kyler Murray signed with the Vikings to be the second-string QB…” says @Charley_Walters, he goes on… “Curiously, a few weeks ago, during the rookie mini-camp, the Vikings brought in former Dallas-Baltimore QB Cooper Rush for a tryout…if the Vikings were to get a decent offer, say a third-round draft pick, for QB J.J. McCarthy, it wouldn’t be surprising if Minnesota starts the season with Murray, Wentz and perhaps Rush as its top three QBs.” Is a 3rd round pick enough for the Vikings to move off of McCarthy?

Kyler Murray when he gets that chemistry with Justin Jefferson 🔜
What's the most impressive throw you've ever seen from a QB? Matthew Stafford will look to lead the Rams to another title this year... and one Kalshi trader has $11,310 on him to win MVP in 2026.

Healy is also a get. He comes from a Browns front office that has been the forefront of the league with analytics. Year after year peers have put their dept at the top of the league, Teasley with two great additions here.
Kirchner is a get. Goes way back with Teasley. Minnesota native coming home

For the Grigson haters…. He’s staying around
While Healy and Kirchner are top lieutenants for Nolan Teasley, the team plans to keep Ryan Grigson in a different capacity.

The #Vikings plan to name Andrew Healy and Trent Kirchner as assistant GMs, adding two highly respected executives to the club’s football operation. Healy, who will serve as the team’s secondary football executive, while Kirchner is widely regarded as one of the NFL’s top talent evaluators.

The back half of the Vikings WR room will be pretty interesting to watch. The Vikings kept only 5 WRs last year at the 53-man deadline, but I don't think they're going to be able to get away with that. I think they're going to need 6. - Locks: Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Jauan Jennings (3) - Likely a lock because of PR/KR: Myles Price (1) UDFA Dillon Bell is splashing early and already getting reps with the first team, meanwhile former 2025 3rd round pick Tai Felton is doing well per reports too. Will be interesting to watch. I think they keep 6.

Let the QB talkers for the summer continue!

ALT Walk Strut GIF

Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell says the team will take the QB competition between Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy into training camp: "I want to see these guys in a very, very unique and difficult circumstance elevate their games to help the Vikings.”

This was louder.
This has to be the best crowd pop in the history of sports. The roof is off. The city is on fire. I can’t stop listening to it.

For those asking, my understanding is that this is the extent of the initial changes to the Vikings' front office under new GM Nolan Teasley.
Replying to @SeifertESPN
It doesn't qualify as an overhaul, but Stephenson (24 years) and Roberts (13 years) were longtime employees. Also, the Vikings are parting ways with assistant general manager Demitrius Washington, a source confirmed. Washington was a Kwesi Adofo-Mensah hire 4 years ago.

Here we go!
The Vikings are making front office changes, per sources. Assistant GM Demitrius Washington is seeking other opportunities. Senior personnel executive Jamaal Stephenson, senior college executive Pat Roberts and pro scout Salli Clavelle won't return. nytimes.com/athletic/7351453…

Good segment, watch it. Leber makes some valid points regarding the trade of the “loser” but it’s really going to depend on how that person would accept their role on the team.

What are the odds KOC names QB1 today and doesn’t leave it until camp?
Kevin O’Connell will address the media following the conclusion of today’s final mini-camp practice.

"You know who was the first overall pick in 2018? A guy by the name of Baker Mayfield...Here is Kyler's chance to prove it." 👀

IMO these critiques just say everything about how oddly invested some folks are in JJ McCarthy. It’s been crazy how quickly some rally to his defense. Kyler Murray is better than him. He’s established. That said, how Kyler looks in any given June practice isn’t that important.

The veteran edge market is starting to move. Would love to see the Vikings land someone like Leonard Floyd, Jadeveon Clowney, Kyle Van Noy, or Von Miller before training camp.
Eagles signed former Bills DE A.J. Epenesa. Epenesa originally was Buffalo’s 2020 second-round pick. He planned to sign with the Browns in March, but didn’t pass his physical. Now he lands in Philadelphia.

This is great news. Expected to be back for training camp but any work he can get before then is a bonus.
Vikings DL Caleb Banks, the R1 draft pick who is recovering from a broken left foot, was working on the rehab field alongside minicamp practice today. First time I've seen him out there. Goal has always been to have him ready for training camp in late July.

NOT a Viking.
The #Eagles have released DE Za’Darius Smith from the Reserve/Retired list, allowing him to become a free agent and sign with a team if he chooses to continue his NFL career.

The new money on Patrick Mahomes’ deal is worth $239.05 million, with the total value now at $504.75 million from 2026-33, with the first four years being guaranteed at signing. All $504.75 million becomes guaranteed through contract mechanisms.   Mahomes can earn up to $522.25 through incentives and escalators. Beginning in 2027, when the new money begins, the deal averages $64M per year, setting a new NFL record for average annual value.

Wouldn’t expect anything definitive this week from what @TomPelissero said but sounds like the Vikings won’t let this competition bleed into training camp. There is voluntary OTAs next week to close out the Spring calendar before training camp in Jul/Aug but there’s been talks that veterans may get next week off (not confirmed yet).
Tom Pelissero (in an interview with Vikings Entertainment Network) doubles down on KOC being closer to naming his starting QB than he is leading on... "One thing I don't anticipate is that it's going to take the full preseason to sort out.I think they'll walk off the field at the end of this week with a pretty good idea..."

Fair to critique coverage. On the trade question: Many many many people have been speculating on whether J.J. McCarthy would be/wants to be/should be traded. Had anyone actually asked him if there is any basis to it? Doesn't that matter? Isn't that the point of access?
Replying to @SeifertESPN
He does have a point. You are heavily biased in your reporting on the QB battle in that you hardly ever give JJ any praise when he does well, but then when Kyler does bad you make excuses for him. And that question regarding if JJ wants a trade yesterday, very unprofessional.
