Peinlich.

The tide is turning for Ukraine. The situation in 2026 is very different from 2025. Ukraine is bravely holding the frontline. Russia’s fatigue is openly showing. That’s the time to double down on our support. With the first disbursement of the €90 billion EU loan. With a winter package to support Ukraine later in the year. The G7 stands in support of a strong and sovereign Ukraine.

Mostly greed….
Greed or player health? Not normally part of football, hydration breaks introduced at the World Cup last a total of six minutes during a match – but fans have started booing them and many critics say they are ruining sport's ultimate showpiece u.afp.com/SzfL

Russia increased attacks on Ukrainian civilians again last night and carried out strikes that damaged a UNESCO World Heritage site in Kyiv. These are war crimes, and Russia will have to answer for them. In response, today we are adopting additional sanctions targeting Russia's military-industrial complex and its shadow fleet. Every measure further restricts Russia's room for manoeuvre. My press remarks ahead of today’s Foreign Affairs Council ↓

Soccer has always been defined by free-flowing, unbroken action. But for the World Cup in America, FIFA is using “hydration breaks” to shoehorn in commercials. on.wsj.com/4oomwCq

Carney: The post Cold-war world rules-based order is breaking down The only way for medium-sized powers to avoid becoming vassals of either the United States or China is through commercial and strategic integration, as exemplified by the European Union. The EU's internal market already exceeds €4 trillion in annual trade, and in more than 88% of EU countries, the EU itself is their largest trading partner. Europe should continue expanding by welcoming new members while also building stronger partnerships—or even deeper forms of integration—with the United Kingdom, Canada, Latin America, the Indo-Pacific region, and Africa. Only by creating a broad network of aligned economies and strategic interests can Europe maintain its autonomy and influence in an increasingly multipolar world

If you want to measure the impact of a European leader, look at how much energy foreign adversaries spend trying to destroy their reputation. The constant stream of pro-Russian and pro-China propaganda aimed at @kajakallas proves she is a formidable opponent to them, and while the exact powers of the EU High Representative position can potentially be reformed, Kallas has the ideal mindset to confront hostile autocrats. European capitals have every right to analyze and potentially adjust the bureaucratic mandate of the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. Rethinking how the bloc coordinates its external actions is a standard part of institutional evolution, but any systemic flaws in the office cannot be blamed on Kallas. The concentrated hostility directed at her from state media ecosystems in Russia and China (and some other enemies too) is an involuntary admission that her strategic clarity poses a major problem for them. Their fixation on Kallas confirms her status as a high-stakes obstacle. She has a profound understanding of the psychological games autocrats play, and she refuses to grant them the passive diplomatic concessions they crave. Her clear, unyielding communication style helps insulate the European Union from the gaslighting tactics that hostile regimes use to manipulate Western policy. The narrative attacks against her should therefore be viewed as validation of her approach. Discussions about reforming European diplomacy are healthy, but Kallas herself is not the issue, as her defiant attitude is exactly what is needed to face down modern authoritarian threats

This morning, UK forces boarded a Russian tanker in the English Channel that was secretly helping to bankroll Putin's war in Ukraine. The first operation of its kind led by British forces, and a clear message: there is nowhere to hide.

Carney: “The next world order will likely be built out of Europe.” Europe is entering a geopolitical expansion phase: Ukraine, Moldova and the Western Balkans moving toward future EU accession, deeper agreements with the UK and Canada, and a European NATO defence budget that will exceed €800bn by 2030, surpassing Russia and China in nominal terms. But scale alone is not enough. Europe must complete the single market in services, finance and energy, reduce the innovation gap with the US, and build a unified foreign policy capable of defending European interests.
