Transit riders show up! We met at Dufferin and Bloor today, along with @TOenviro and local Bathurst business leaders to speak loudly in favour of dedicated transit lanes.
Andrew Pulsifer, executive director at @ttcriders talks about how safety issues can be better addressed by governments and transit authorities. Tonight at 8pm | Producer: Carla Lucchetta (@carrletta)

The Ford Government just passed Bill 98 which risks affordable fares, service standards and opens the door to privatization of our public transit systems. The province should focus on restoring funding and collaborating with agencies instead of this takeover. #ttc#onpoli
Bill 98, Ford's backdoor upload of the TTC, just passed in the legislature 61-31.
This is a dark day for transit. We expect fares to go up, routes to be changed and consultations with riders to cease.
Our tool to email Ford and your MPP remains live. Let the government know that you disagree with this potential path to privatization, that fares must remain affordable and that the TTC needs the Province to step-up with sustainable operating funding:

The #RapidTO lanes on Dufferin Street are already helping TTC riders move faster. Travel times have improved by up to 3 minutes and trips are more consistent.

President Marvin Alfred spoke to the committee at Queen's Park about Bill 98, alongside TTCriders, an advocacy group, as well as TTC management - delivering a clear message that regional transit integration needs sustainable operational funding, planning, and consultation.
Doug Ford is coming for the TTC.
Bill 98 proposes massive changes to the transit in Ontario and risks a complete dismantling of the TTC. If this passes the TTC Board and City Council would no longer have control over the system.
This puts hard-fought wins like fare capping at risk, and will likely result in fare increases
Toronto Transit riders deserve a system that is affordable, reliable and accountable to the people who use it every day. This bill put all of that at risk.
We've partnered with our friends at @progresstoronto and created a handy email tool to let Ford know that this kind of meddling is unacceptable. Email him today with one-click at this link:

A total outage of TTC subway elevators today prompts me to look at station elevating services generally. The status is less than ideal. stevemunro.ca/2026/04/20/u... If riders cannot get to and from platforms, then the subway, for them, does not exist.
UPDATE: Elevators ARE still working—but a staff member is required to operate them.
Hopefully someone is posted at the elevators at all times to avoid unnecessary disruptions.
You can’t spend years trying to force people off door-to-door Wheeltrans service if you don’t have working elevators.
This isn’t an “inconvenience,” it’s an affront to everyone with accessibility needs.
Elevators are operational but require staff assistance due to Passenger Assistance Intercoms being out of service. Please speak with TTC staff if you need elevator access. Use Wheel-Trans or surface routes if needed. We are urgently working to restore PAI service.

The Passenger Assistance Intercom in subway stations are not working. As a safety precaution, all elevators are out of service until this issue is resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Some suggestions:
1. Give riders a timeline for when this will be fixed. Walk us through each step of the process
2. Deploy staff at every subway station to help those who need it climb the stairs
3. Make all wheel trans trips door-to-door for the duration of this outage
