Common misconceptions about #DomesticAbuse can be extremely harmful. It takes a great deal of courage to leave an abusive partner, with many practical as well as psychological barriers to overcome. Here's why women can’t “just leave”: bit.ly/3zYCdrs

The sentences given for these murders are just pathetic. Domestic homicides have a shorter minimum sentence than murders which happen outside of the home. Murder is murder itv.com/news/2024-02-21/moth…

🤔 I have seen & heard #FamilyCourt, #cafcass & #socialworkers tear mothers to pieces due to the #DomesticAbuse & past traumas they've experienced. Yet, perpetrators are rarely scrutinised over their abuse‼️ ➡️ We need these systems to start recognising perpetrators' abusive actions; to stop focusing on, & judging, innocent victims for being in an abusive relationship... & start holding abusers accountable for choosing to abuse. Yes, it is a choice - perpetrators CHOOSE to abuse... a victim does NOT choose to be abused. ➡️ It is completely unfair to judge victims for their natural trauma responses, yet not recognise the perpetrator's abuse & mistreatment of the victim as being an issue. These so-called "professionals" proclaim to fulfil the "best interests of children" policy, yet are unable, or unwilling, to recognise the signs of abuse... neither do they listen to children’s voices. It is disgraceful‼️ ➡️ Family court MUST STOP punishing mothers & children for their natural trauma responses to being abused, & start dealing with the fundamental issues at hand - namely, #Accountability for the abusers themselves‼️ @AlexChalkChelt @CommissionerDA @JudiciaryUK ✳️ An excerpt (below) from @davidgmandel 's book: "Stop Blaming Mothers & Ignoring Father's: How to transform the way we keep children safe from #DomesticViolence" ⬇️ amazon.com/Stop-Blaming-Moth…

I hope you take a minute to read this long excerpt from my just released book "Stop Blaming Mothers and Ignoring Fathers: How to transform the way we keep children safe from domestic violence" "My early discussions with social workers revealed how much they knew about mothers’ trauma histories but how little they knew of the specifics of actual behaviors of the perpetrator. They could describe how many abusive relationships the mother had been in but not how many past partners the perpetrator had abused. They could recite, from memory, the perceived faults of the mother and the services she was offered. But they could not describe the perpetrator’s pattern of behavior, how that pattern impacted the survivor’s parenting, or how the pattern related to the problems the children were experiencing. Many couldn’t even describe factors indicative of high levels of danger or the dynamics of control and entrapment. They knew little or nothing about whether a particular perpetrator was a danger to professionals or others beyond the immediate family. Digging even deeper, it also became clear that most workers couldn’t answer questions about the role of culture, power, and privilege or how domestic violence intersected with issues such as substance abuse and mental health. The practices associated with blaming mothers and ignoring fathers were, and still are, hiding in plain sight." amazon.com/Stop-Blaming-Moth…
