I would like to hear everyone's thoughts on a possible fee increase for the website. The idea started in 2002 when this began as an email chain that coaches used to help each other fill our schedules that I would send out every morning before my bus route.
In the following 24 years, this has evolved into the current Texas Prep Softball website, which still helps coaches fill schedules as the main purpose, to where now we have directories, schedules, records, standings, brackets, etc. We have also been recognized as the closest to our own sport specific softball coaches association, and with that, I have had the utmost honor to be a representative of yours at statewide meetings, especially with the UIL and THSCA.
Until 2018, I paid for expenses out of my own pocket until I retired from public schools planning to retire from this too. Coaches asked me to continue our service and website and offered to start paying a yearly subscription fee anywhere from $10-50. I agreed to the $10 to help with expenses and time.
Some out there think the subscription is for the entire site, but it's only for the open dates and coaches directory and I try to limit access there to coaches only. The rest of the site is there for everyone to access for free. There is a debate amongst coaches and myself to charge a website fee for everyone, but make a difference in fees based on access level (coach/public). I will address that later this summer as there is a push to transition the site into our own softball coaches association and have to make sure the lines are clear on what can be charged or not.
Send me your thoughts and I will add a poll in the next few minutes.
