Lately it's been impossible for me to sit down for longer than 4 seconds without my lap being filled by 3.5kg of purring cat. This is all very lovely except for her desire to have full editorial control of my work, which means every 10 minutes she tries to knead the keyboard.

One good thing to emerge from this pandemic is the array of online learning. It used to be almost impossible to find a Yiddish class in the UK outside Oxford and London. If you've always wanted to learn Yiddish (and of course you have) here's your chance.

(This is why I've always hated automatic deduction of marks for students submitting eight minutes after the deadline. I see the submission time recorded in red on Turnitin, I know exactly what happened there, I telepathically send my sympathies.)

The decisive factor in choosing which journal to submit to that no one ever acknowledges: the referencing style required and whether it is terrible or not terrible.

David Baddiel casually referred to Gypsies as p*keys on national TV, so I shouldn't be surprised he's calling a Gypsy charity antisemitic for hosting a memorial event dedicated to Gypsy victims of Nazism, but somehow he manages to undercut even the lowest of low expectations.

In attacking There and Back Again, a small GRT group, David Baddiel has:
- lowballed the number of Roma & Sinti murdered in the Holocaust
- falsly denied that Roma & Sinti were systematically annihilated as racial enemies
- accused them of "softcore Holocaust Denial"

I have had a breakthrough with my current albatross. The chapter on forced disappearances needs to be blended with the chapter on ethical challenges to memory! I can't think why I didn't notice this before, but it's already flowing SO MUCH BETTER.
