In parts of northern Nigeria, fewer than 2 in 100 young women have ever used a computer, yet they are being registered, banked, and governed online. Their data is everywhere, but their rights remain largely unknown. Nigeria’s own target is 70% #DigitalLiteracy by 2027, but we’re nowhere near it. Millions are already living in a #DigitalEconomy they were never equipped to navigate. This year, @ndpcngr honoured @accountlabng with the Privacy Excellence Award for advancing #DataPrivacy and #DigitalRights, and we’re not stopping there. We’re supporting a generation that understands its rights, owns its data, and helps shape the policies governing its digital future. Your data, your right, your future. 🇳🇬

BREAKING: Appeal court faults judge, stays judgment ordering ADC, Accord deregistration The court of appeal in Abuja has stayed the execution of a federal high court judgement directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and four other political parties. In a unanimous ruling on Tuesday, a three-member panel led by Abba Mohammed held that Peter Lifu, a federal high court judge, acted in disregard of an earlier order of the appellate court when he proceeded to deliver the judgement. thecable.ng/breaking-appeal-…

During a panel session on “Rethinking Nigeria’s Civic Space Across Generations” at the Intergenerational Civil Society Convening, panelists raised key concerns around democratic participation and civic sustainability in #Nigeria. They noted a weakening of intergenerational civic continuity, with concerns that #civicengagement is becoming less strategic and coordinated compared to earlier democratic movements. The decline of strong organising structures and intentional leadership succession was identified as a risk to sustaining long-term civic impact. Emphasizing the need for renewal, they called for stronger voter education that is community-driven, accessible, and grounded in citizens’ realities, alongside intentional intergenerational civic coalitions that strengthen collaboration, mentorship, and coordinated advocacy beyond protest.

In a call for unity and resilience, “Tebe” reminds us of the danger of division and the importance of standing together in the face of exploitation. The track stresses that citizens are stronger together and pushes for collective action, shared responsibility, and community support for positive social change to happen. Because when citizens’ stay united and intentional about their purpose, change becomes possible and harder to ignore. #civicaction #civicparticipation #citizensengagement #activecitizens
