An old friend got married at 24. He was doing impressively well: had a car, a well-paying job, an apartment... His newly wedded wife was 23. In December 2022, he was in a terrible accident. By God’s grace, he survived, but his testicles and manhood were crushed beyond repair, and he suffered a severe head injury that left him with permanent mental illness.
At Nakasero Hospital, right after we were told the bad news—that he’d never work again, was the last time we saw his wife. No one blames her. What if she were your sister! He currently lives under his mother’s care.
A mother’s role and "importance" is permanent. A wife’s depends on the situation.
