📍 The Lake Kariba Border Demarcation Sensitisation has successfully concluded the first phase of a joint
#Zambia–
#Zimbabwe awareness campaign on 3 June 2026 in
#Siavonga, 🇿🇲. The second workshop will take place in
#Kariba, 🇿🇼, on 5 June 2026, ahead of the historic and first-ever lake waterbody border demarcation scheduled for 5 July 2026.
🤝 Organized by the
@_AfricanUnion Border Programme (
#AUBP) in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (
@GIZAfricanUnion) and International Organization for Migration (
@UNmigration), the workshops aim to strengthen community awareness, promote safe navigation practices, reduce the risk of accidental border crossings, and foster peaceful cross-border cooperation among communities sharing
#LakeKariba.
🗺️ As preparations continue for the 1⃣5⃣th
#AfricanBorderDay2026 celebrations on 7 July 2026, this initiative demonstrates the
@_AfricanUnion’s commitment to transforming borders from barriers into bridges.🚤 The upcoming demarcation will mark a historic milestone as Africa’s first-ever lake border demarcation, contributing to safer livelihoods, stronger cooperation, and more effective border governance.
