Economic freedom is not what creates poverty, so manipulation is not going to solve it. If more government control were the solution, poverty would have ended long ago. The solution is genuine freedom, which is only possible by abolishing all taxation except on land ownership.

Capitalism as currently practiced is not free enterprise. It's neo-feudalism marketed as free enterprise.

If you really want the best health care, allow us an economic system that values human beings. Until the tax system is geared toward maximizing personal wealth instead of investor returns and public revenue collection, the well-being of individuals will not be prioritized.

Capitalism vs communism means either investors or the government owns the land and charges society all we can afford to live. The alternative is what the classical economists proposed - abolish all taxation except on land ownership. Personal freedom requires equal access to land.

The biggest hoaxes are that poverty is natural and that economics is complicated. But keeping labor cheap is so useful to those in power, our education system completely omits the topic of economics until college and then, teaches us land, a bionecessity, is a form of capital.

Free people can unite with whomever they want, but unified people don't necessarily have individual freedom. Unity is overrated by those who seek power, but there is no way to overrate individual freedom. Don't be fooled into thinking unity is the path to peace. Freedom is.

The problem with capitalism isn't human nature, it's the deception of society regarding taxes and the disincentives they create - by taxing wealth creators instead of land holders, workers are kept desperate for money. But, blaming freedom makes people vote for authoritarianism.

Nature (including human nature) is not what keeps society desperate for money. The tax system (incentive system) maintains systemic poverty by allowing land ownership to be a profitable store of value.

Last week, I had the pleasure of speaking at the Tax & The City Event, a sold-out show at Chicago's iO theatre focused on land value tax, sponsored by the @CLandEconomics, @PandPInst and @StrongTowns . The event opened with standup comedy from the Urbanist Comic, Alex Montero, followed by a keynote from the former Mayor of Milwaukee, John Norquist. I then took the stage for a panel discussion on the economics and politics of land value tax. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet so many urbanists in person, all dedicated to making Chicago and other American cities more livable.

Land value tax is closer to becoming law in NY and MD. Taxing the land encourages efficient use of land, which helps the economy, the environment, and housing affordability.

Economics is kept out of public school so politicians can persuade people that fairness is only possible by giving them power to redistribute wealth. Neither capitalists nor communists want society to learn how we can have equal economic opportunity and economic freedom.
