Hello, @NYCDOE! I think you might have the date of Diwali wrong in the 2025–26 calendar. Everywhere I look, it seems to be 10/21/2025, but currently your official calendar is giving October 20 as the day off from school.
Is the teacher at my kids’ @NYCSchools allowed to give the Class Parent a simple roster of who is in the class? Each fall, Class Parents try to create accurate class contact lists, and it would be so much easier if we knew who we were missing!
In this weekly, in-person drop-in class w/ @TaylorMali, we’ll explore the way in which poems can emerge from “saying the quiet part out loud,” which is generally considered to be a bad thing.

Can anyone get me in touch with my school friend Ali, seen here in one of the photos on his senior page? He’s had his ups and downs (who hasn’t?), but I’d love to find him again. We wrote our 7th grade term paper together! Alexander Maximilian Benedetto #AliBenedetto
Fate has me resting my head at The Andover Inn tonight, which I didn’t realize was on the campus of @phillipsacademy where I have never performed or taught! I wish I had time to crash the English Department tomorrow!

Every human culture uses metaphor to talk about and help make sense of the complexities of our own lives. In this weekly drop-in w/ @TaylorMali, poets of all levels will embark on an exploration of the playful nature of figurative language. Starts Aug 30! brooklynpoets.org/workshops/…
I start teaching a weekly Tuesday evening Metaphor Dice workshop at Brooklyn Poets (144 Montague St) on Aug 30th (5–6 pm)! It's part of their Weekly Drop-In Series. Bring a pen and a journal and help pack the first one!

Last night, while my son was brushing his teeth, he stopped and asked (verbatim) “Back then, did you have water?” by which he clearly meant DID WATER EXIST BACK WHEN YOU WERE ALIVE?
Trump’s tweet at 2:24 PM on January 6th about Pence was in the past tense so that it COULD serve as an epitaph if Pence was killed. The syntax is damning for this former English teacher. #Jan6thHearings
