Firm believer in this. If you think your kid is too good for their current club, ask if they can play up before leaving for "Greener pastures".
If your child is good enough to play up an age group or two, I recommend it. Focus on their growth & development, not outside opinions which will come from the each set of players & parents from the age group you left to the others you move to.

Love this. You can see love in that coach's challenge. No coach challenges a player like that if they don't truly believe in that player.

Learned this early in my teaching career. Have a tough student giving you fits? Find out what they do outside of school and go support them. Bonus: walk up to their parents & tell them how cool it is their kid is participating in said event/sport/thing.

The MYTH of the so-called “elite” young athlete claims that children must join these “elite teams” early to succeed, ignoring the value of play &development. Many kids aren’t ready for “elite environments” at a young age,but they can/will thrive later by focusing on fun&learning!
