Here’s what’s really happening 👇 Storage manufacturers use decimal math (base-10): 1 TB = 1,000,000,000,000 bytes So 2 TB = 2,000,000,000,000 bytes Operating systems use binary math (base-2): 1 TiB = 1,099,511,627,776 bytes But your OS still labels it as “TB” When your OS converts the numbers: 2,000,000,000,000 ÷ 1,099,511,627,776 ≈ 1.8 TiB That’s the “missing” space. No files stolen No secret partition No shady SSD behavior Your OS just counts differently
