I know that matrices may not be relevant to some of you, but there are many ways that you can incorporate the idea of secret codes into your lesson. Many of these ways foster algebraic thinking...even at the elementary level. And kids love secret codes

A2: The meaningful connection is the secret sauce in teaching math! The mathletes must sense a purpose or they will not buy what I am selling. I try to stay in tune to what is important to the kiddos. I have been pondering how do I get the Tiger King into a Math lesson? #octmchat

When we taught our matrix lesson, we were surprised that students used their knowledge of graphing to incorrectly, but logically, name cell locations
