In the age of click-and-go reading, why do students need to know information when they can just look things up? Because students who know things read better. My new book drops 10/8. For a limited time, @HeinemannPub is offering a pre-publication discount: heinemann.com/products/e1614…

We came together to make the largest investment in K-12 public education in Pennsylvania history, while building on the progress we’ve made on student teacher stipends, mental health resources, and environmental school repairs. I promised to invest in the next generation of Pennsylvania leaders β€” and we delivered.

πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ’ͺ🏼🫢🏼 β€œFor the first time ever, we will invest $11 billion in K-12 public education β€” and 65% of the new subsidies for basic education will be driven out under a new formula that directs the funding to the districts that need it most.”
The budget I signed tonight is more than a bunch of numbers on a spreadsheet β€” it delivers real solutions to the problems folks face every day. For the first time ever, we will invest $11 billion in K-12 public education β€” and 65% of the new subsidies for basic education will be driven out under a new formula that directs the funding to the districts that need it most. We’re funding almost 400 more new @PAStatePolice troopers to keep our communities safe, while making a 40% increase in violence intervention and prevention programs. This budget delivers economic opportunity with massive new investments in economic development. From a new $20 million initiative for our Main Streets, to millions in marketing to drive our tourism industry β€” and from innovating on our farms to making an unprecedented $500 million investment to create shovel ready sites, this budget delivers real opportunity for businesses and workers all across Pennsylvania. We’re continuing our commitment to cutting costs for seniors and families β€” giving them more freedom and more opportunity to succeed in this economy. We created tax credits for parents trying to afford childcare or saving up to put their kid through college, cut taxes for folks paying interest on their student loans β€” and for our neighbors in Western PA who got government assistance following Norfolk Southern’s train derailment, you won’t be taxed for those payments. We’re delivering unprecedented funding for Pennsylvanians with intellectual disabilities β€” and beginning the process of finally ending the waitlist for the services they need. We’re creating the first ever Alzheimer’s Disease Division in our Department of Aging, and we’re finally making pads and tampons free and available in public schools, so no girl has to miss days of learning just because she’s on her period. Bipartisanship requires compromise. But in a productive democracy, this is how progress is made. Here in our Commonwealth, we’re moving past the partisan politics, having real conversations, and getting stuff done for the good people of Pennsylvania.

Great activity for all ages! Such a non-threatening way to have students WRITE! My younger reluctant writing self would have loved this! Have students tell their story first and then write! So creative!

The House just passed a historic education funding formula mirroring what I proposed in my budget β€” a once in a lifetime opportunity to do right by our kids and build on the Basic Education Funding Commission's work. And it passed with bipartisan support. Every kid deserves the freedom to chart their own course and the opportunity to succeed. Let's make that a reality.

It’s an amazing program with so much potential to support our students and bring them back to work at our district after they graduate college! Can’t wait to call them colleagues someday!
PSEA President Aaron Chapin said "This is one of the most exciting programs I've seen in all my years as an educator!" about our program. Learn more about the growth of EdR in PA: psea.org/educatorsrising
