My comments at the next city council meeting following Mayor Hammoud's accusations which went viral. (See video link below.) 'I have no intention of bringing a lawsuit for the infringement of my rights. People have been saying I should do that all over the world. I have no intention of doing that. The mayor in a way cursed me as we've seen around the world and I would like to repeat what I said that day to you Mr. Mayor, God bless you. I think of the words of the Messiah, "Bless those who curse you." And some other very powerful words which were mentioned this week at a prominent funeral about "loving your enemies" and "Love your haters." And I think this is a very important message in our society right now, not just in regards to Muslim-Christian relations, but in our society generally. I see way too many people calling the other side a "POS". If you don't know what that is, that's fine, I'm not going to tell you. But I just think there's way too much hate in this society right now. And so I want to encourage loving your haters. And I would say that in regards to Hezbollah as well. I would say that in regards to Mr. Siblani and I would say that to Israel, too. Love your haters. I think the people of Israel should follow the example of the greatest Jewish person that there ever was, the Lord Jesus, the Messiah. So, if you don't mind, I'd like to ask a favor. And I'll preface this. There is nowhere in the world where we are able to speak completely freely as Christians. Here in western countries, we're slandered as "Islamophobes" when we try gently and respectfully to invite Muslim people to believe in the Lord Jesus. And in Muslim countries there are so many violations of human rights. And just to give an example, Mayor Hammoud, you were in Mecca a few months ago on the hajj, the original Islamic country. And in that country, there is still not allowed to be even one church. Not one church in that whole country. In Gaza, there are less than a thousand Christians. It's such a tiny minority. And as if that wasn't bad enough, 30 of them were slaughtered by Hamas after October 7. Lebanon does not allow the same rights that we have here. I know somebody who was kicked out of Lebanon after 35 years, a gentle missionary. So I do not think this is acceptable. Enough is enough. This needs to stop now, and it needs to stop here. And I would like to ask a favor if I may, just kind of as a symbol of the type of freedom that I'm asking for. Would it be possible for you, Mayor Hammud, in front of the world, and council members, to join me in saying we would like to put out a Christian call to prayer and a Christian call to faith in all the countries around the world where an Islamic call to prayer goes out. We would like to put that out.'
