A scheduled monument Green Dike near Ravenscar is believed to be boundary dyke on eastern side of the #medieval estate of #Whitby Strand possibly laid out in around AD 660 by Hilda of Whitby Abbey although there is a suggestion it could be earlier. (photo H. Bolton).

20. So here’s a game everyone can play. All that’s required for an initial hypothesis is the landscape around us and maps/air photos. Then that should be tested & amended against archaeological finds & for documentary evidence (as in the thread), much already available online 😝
