Lagos as a Healthcare Investment Destination
Also at Invest Lagos 3.0 this week, I joined a high-level roundtable on the Commonwealth-GCC Health Investment Corridor, led by Asif Chaudry, Board Member of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council and robotic cancer surgeon. The session brought together senior leaders from healthcare, finance, insurance, manufacturing, health technology, development finance and government to explore commercially viable healthcare investment opportunities in Lagos and across Commonwealth markets.
The discussions covered healthcare infrastructure, workforce development, pharmaceutical manufacturing, medical devices, digital health, artificial intelligence and clinical education. We focused on the specialist areas that drive medical tourism out of Nigeria, including oncology, cardiology, orthopaedics, urology and advanced surgical services. Our goal is that patients no longer need to leave Lagos for world-class care, and that increasingly, patients from across Africa choose Lagos for treatment.
Lagos has the potential not only to consume healthcare but to produce, innovate, manufacture, train and export healthcare solutions to the rest of the continent.
Our vision is simple. Every resident should have access to quality healthcare, and Lagos should become the leading healthcare destination in West Africa and one of the foremost medical hubs on the continent.
The opportunities are significant. The partnerships are growing.
Lagos is open for investment.
