In 1913, South Africa passed the Natives Land Act, which forbid Black people from owning or leasing land in white areas. The act designated just 7 percent of farmland for Black people. 93 percent went to white people.
The government also forcibly removed Black people from land they owned if that area was designated for white settlers.
Today: White people own 72 percent of the private farmland in South Africa, despite being only 7 percent of the population.
Do with that information what you will.
