It’s 99% a global decline in teen pregnancy. Teenagers are not doing a bunch of math and going “when I am 65 I will be supported by the state 29% more therefore I will have fewer children.” They’re just less likely to be forced into marriages and child-rearing.

Current birthrate belief: falling birth rates is mostly because liberal modernity socializes (many) of the benefits of having lots of children (old-age care, perpetuation of your part of society) but keeps the costs mostly individualized
