2026 BENGALURU SUMMER: SEASON REVIEW
=======================================
Good morning, friends!
Let's do a quick review of the Bengaluru 2026 summer so far.
To begin with, I have shared the summer phase data (March–May) for the last 16 years, starting from 2010. On average, Bengaluru crosses the summer threshold of ~34°C on approximately 49 days per summer season.
The month that contributes the maximum number of Summer days shared below:
Feb = 1
March = 17
April = 22
May = 9
Now lets turn our gaze to summer of 2026:
Feb = 0
March = 6
April [1st to 20th] = 15
Note:
-As you can see, both February and March were relatively pleasant. March recorded only 6 days that crossed the summer threshold of ~34°C.
-April started quietly, but summer temperatures began consistently after the 5th. While we have seen many 36°C days this April, this is not unprecedented.
-At this point, it looks like April 2026 will end with around 24 days of summer temperatures (34°C and above). This falls well within the normal range of approximately 22 such days.
-Therefore, despite a warm April, we are currently on track for a normal or slightly below-normal summer this year.
-The only notable feature has been the frequency of 36°C days in the last seven days, but even this does not represent a major anomaly.
Social media may sensationalize the situation and claim that Bengaluru has turned into the Thar Desert. However, such narratives require actual numbers and evidence to hold up.
Subjective experiences, while valid personally, cannot be presented as objective reality that withstands scrutiny.
Anyway, hold on friends — better days are just around the corner. In another 7–8 days, we should start seeing a mix of on-and-off summer temperatures. By mid-May, we can expect more days settling around 32°C.
