OMG, arrived. Five whole hours before our taxi to the airport. This would 100% not have been possible without a very helpful staffer in @RepPressley 's office, which is a ridiculous way to run a passport system, but a great way to run a congressional office.
PSA: if you need to renew a US passport in the next few months, you're already doomed. @StateDept is too overwhelmed to even pick up the phone; we put in my daughter's renewal, EXPEDITED, in March, and don't have it yet. Getting on a plane Monday. In theory 🤷‍♀️

I'm confused that the @UPS definition of "next day air" means "the package that was shipped Thursday, you will get it Monday, it will literally sit in CT for 48 hours in between" but this is probably still fine Kinda feeling like I should've just driven to CT yesterday though

Last-minute check before bedtime because I can't think about anything else and now it says SHIPPED!! Next day air 🤞🤞🤞 It's ridiculous that you NEED congressional office intervention to make this happen, but also @AyannaPressley 's staff is TOP NOTCH.

Question: Since the WHO ended the global emergency status for COVID-19 on May 5th,  does anyone know of any journals that have reimposed paywalls? Thanks!

Helpful staffer heard back that they have not finished adjudicating the application, which I presume is polite phrasing of "you're totally fucked", plus a note that repeated inquiries can slow things down. Well I wouldn't ask so often if I had ANY VISIBILITY OR ESTIMATE.

If I had an estimate of "tomorrow", I could mostly plan on my current itinerary. If I had an estimate of "July", I could have replanned ages ago and be done with it. I am currently keeping all possible vacations open in my mind and it isn't leaving room for anything else.

I mean FUTURE contact with my representatives will include "jfc just allocate state whatever they need to stop drowning under passports because no one can function right now"...but...NOW contact is I need the damn passport. Ideally a month ago, like you promised.

4 days until travel, still no passport. Just left voicemail with @ewarren 's and @SenMarkey 's Boston offices. I happen to have a meeting right around the corner today so maybe I'll just show up??? auuuuugh

Today: got 3-4 levels deep in the phone tree before they told me they were too busy to take the call. Cannot tell if better or worse? Wrote back to the _excellent_ staffer at @AyannaPressley 's office, hoping he has options I don't. Passport still not shipped.

I've had represented parties lose at trial against self-represented litigants, always because they lied to their lawyers. My favorite was an old divorce case where the husband had a lawyer and the wife didn't. He brought a lawyer. She brought receipts. (A fun story 🧵.)

Normally, you're a little panicked on Mother's Day. Your sister, Kelly, always buys the perfect gift, while you scramble last-minute. Not this year. This year is different. "Nice birdbath, Kelly," you say. "I guess I'm just more focused on keeping Mom and her home safe-"

You know how there are some people who are SO good you never get to hire them because they're never on the market? Yeah, here is your extremely rare chance.
