Last born black girl here and I've been parenting for far longer than I care to admit even to myself
This doesn't apply to black women who are older siblings. Whether you've ever been pregnant or not, if you have younger siblings, you've been parenting since you were a child yourself.

As a man , why are you FAT? You don’t menstruate. You don’t have hormonal issues. You don’t have PCOS. You don’t carry children. So why are you fat? Why are your breasts hanging?

A win is a win
My uncle used to physically abuse his first wife. He would cheat on her and still beat her. This woman tolerated a lot because of her children. When the children were all grown up, she took the bold step of leaving the marriage. When he was in his late 40s, he married another young woman who was just 19 at the time. My uncle again started maltreating his new wife and was actively cheating on her. If she dared confront him about it, he would beat her up. After giving birth to three children for him, she went back to university. The wife eventually decided to start cheating with men around her age at the university as well. My uncle would beat her for cheating. My uncle is now in his early 70s, while the wife is in her early 40s. She no longer lets my uncle touch her because he can no longer satisfy her sexually. This woman now cheats on my uncle openly, and whenever he tries to say anything, she beats him up.

In 1998, I was fired from my corporate job while 9 months pregnant because and I quote, “my priorities would be elsewhere after the baby is born.” The lawyer I hired told me I didn’t have a case because discrimination like “that” was almost impossible to prove. So I got pissed. Took the LSAT. Went to law school. Passed the bar. Had 3 more kids. Twelve years later, another woman from that same company was fired for the same reason. She sued them for a million dollars, and won, partly because I had kept every piece of evidence from what happened to me years prior demonstrating a systemic pattern of discrimination against women. That company no longer exists. My law practice is thriving. And that baby they said would derail my priorities? She’s a brilliant attorney now working at my firm. Turns out my priorities were indeed, elsewhere.
What happened to you that changed the entire trajectory of your life??

You cannot: Work full time, raise children, keep a spotless home, show up fully in your marriage, maintain friendships, stay fit, build wealth, read books, pursue hobbies, serve only home cooked meals, answer every email, and still make the 3:30 school pickup. That standard was created to keep you exhausted and blaming yourself. Let it go.

Q4. I was in a serious relationship with my child's school principal and since his wife found out, his vice principal has barred me from the property unless I'm picking up my child. (I came up to the school and confronted him because he blocked me on Facebook after sweet-talking me into deleting my pregnancy). His vice principal--a female--says I can't come to the school due to safety reasons, but I heard that she's sleeping with him too, and she didn't want ME, her competition, hanging around. My favorite time with him was when I brought him lunch to the school. We'd eat together and I would steal a kiss (and we'd hook up later). Since I'm barred from the school, I send him Uber eats. He accepts the food but he hasn't reached out to me. What else should I do? My calls don't go through anymore and he may have changed his phone number. (Sidenote: My child is getting teased at school because of the fight I had with his principal. How do I address this?) #SBCCHAT

Q2. I got pregnant by my roommate’s boyfriend during my last year of college and I didn't graduate on time. I married my child's father and we started our journey as parents. Here and there, I took online courses offered by my university because I wanted to get that degree. Finally, I did it. I was cleared to participate in the graduation event and I would cross the stage in my cap and gown. I asked my husband to travel with me to attend the graduation. He said he had to work and his boss wouldn't give him the time off. My mother already agreed to watch our child, so my husband was free to do as he pleased. Guess who didn't go to work but was at a day party with his ex and others on the day of my graduation? I showed him the screenshots and he said, "Everything don't revolve around you. Yes, I partied. I f-cked too." He wanted to kill my spirit and he did. I didn't know he hated me so much. Advice. #SBCCHAT

If it wasn't for the heresy and weird doctrines I'd advocate for this
As punishment for minor childhood mischief, when the Jehovah's Witnesses came by she signed us kids up for weekly bible lessons. 2hrs every Tuesday afternoon. We're Methodist 💁🏾‍♀️ Punishment lasted 2yrs. 😭😭😭

Until you lose your job, you'll realise it was never anyone's choice to be unemployed. Life humbles everybody eventually

Men really be telling on themselves for free 😭 We’re literally giving away FREE flowers at my job. Like… no catch. No purchase. Just “hey, take these home to your wife or girlfriend.” And almost every man who walked in was like: “Nah, she’s good.” SHE’S GOOD?? 😭 Sir it costs you absolutely nothing to bring home a tiny gesture and make someone smile for 5 minutes. The flowers were FREE. The romance was FREE. The brownie points were FREE. At this point I fully support my own decision to stay single because what do you mean the bar is underground and men still bringing shovels.

My son boiled 5 eggs at 1 go and I couldn’t even say anything because I’m supposed to be breaking generational curses😭 I can’t be doing what my parents used to do to me and yell at him for eating more than 2 eggs so ndathula I may have judged my parents too early 😭 Now that I’m older, I understand them.

I missed my flight in Nairobi once because of traffic on Mombasa Road. Like fully missed it. I got to the airport sweaty, exhausted, dragging my suitcase like it personally betrayed me. I already knew there was no chance, but I still ran to the counter hoping for mercy. The woman checked her screen, looked at me, then said, “You were the last passenger.” I laughed a little because what else do you do at that point? Then she lowered her voice and said, “The plane is still on the ground.” Next thing I know this airport employee is SPEED WALKING me through the terminal like we’re in an action movie. Security waved me through, another worker grabbed my carry-on to help me run, and I’m apologizing to literally everyone while fighting for my life. I got to the gate completely out of breath. The guy scanning boarding passes looked at me and said, “Eh, Nairobi traffic. We understand.” People on the plane actually clapped when I walked in looking half dead. I have never respected airport workers more in my life. Big up to them.
