1949 Massacre On the 18th November 1949, 21 miners and a bystander were shot dead at Iva valley coal mine, Enugu, Nigeria. It all began when the miners decided to fight for back-pay owed to them and to protest harsh working conditions.

Enugu dies after 9 pm. Whether there's an official curfew in place or not, it doesn't matter. The fact is that the state grinds to a halt by 9 p.m., and security is not guaranteed at all. Use semantics all you want, but if you don't fix security and fast, it will remain so.
