The Court of Appeal has made a ruling that uphold's the High Court's decision that restricts government and state corporations from engaging private law firms, raising significant concerns about the future of our profession. As the number of practitioners grows, the available opportunities seem to be shrinking. During my campaign for LSK President, I prioritized this issue, but it was met with differing opinions.
The profile and prestige of our profession continue to decline. Itโs crucial to reflect on the actions of the current LSK Council. What have they accomplished? Have we taken steps to advocate for our profession in the Court of Appeal? If so, did we employ strong negotiation tactics to secure a ruling that safeguards our collective interests? There are serious challenges ahead.

There is nothing preventing Nairobi from doing all these. Addis was shitty when I first went there in 2018
Difference is controlled development. Nairobi hasn't strictly enforced planning regulations for 50 yrs & the city will never recover. Nigerians in the 70s realized Lagos was too far gone & planned Abuja. Architects Association of Kenya said similar things about Nairobi in 2007.

Kenya owes a lot to the Somali Community. Somalis have enlightened Other Kenyans on entrepreneurship from real estate, Forex, textile, retail etc. Yet Kenyan govโt subjects my people to illegal vetting when seeking IDs & Passports. If Somalis decided to pull their resources out of Kenya, it will collapse in a day.

The rise of goonism in Kenya has reached a level never witnessed before.
Imagine goons having the audacity to storm a church and steal. I used to think they were just ordinary criminals, but it's becoming increasingly clear that many are politically mobilized.
If this trend continues unchecked, the same goons could be used to intimidate voters and disrupt polling stations during the 2027 elections.

It will be able to easily tell what part of Moyale town is in Ethiopia and the one in Kenya.
It's currently getting implemented even in the north!
At night, it provides safe spaces for evening walks and security.
