Muhororo, Kagadi in Uganda once faced a difficult reality: children killed, people injured in human–chimpanzee conflict. Today, those incidents are declining. What changed? No fences, No eliminating wildlife ✅ UWA support, and communities leading coexistence efforts

Mountain Gorillas are recovering, yet still at risk. That contradiction is the real story. Is this a conservation success story, or a fragile recovery?

The war has reached us! As forests shrink, human–chimpanzee conflict is rising, with significant losses on both sides. Credit to Uganda Wildlife Authority for an effective response. But more is needed: leadership focused on addressing forest loss, not rhetoric.

We are quietly eating chimpanzees & gorillas to extinction. Bushmeat consumption is ~4–6 M tonnes/year. Across sampled bushmeat markets, apes appear in ~0.25% of recorded observations and much of this trade is hidden. So how do we measure what we can’t see?

@SilverBirungi If by “tricks,” you mean how the trade operates, that’s exactly the point. Much of it is informal, concealed, and underreported.

Today is Jane Goodall Day, it represents, the power of one individual multiplied across humanity. It reignites in us an actionable hope: A reminder that in a world of complex challenges, the most powerful force remains a single person who decides to act

Chimpanzees use insects as medicine. Yes—medicine! A 2025 study in Uganda's Kibale National Park shows chimps catching insects, crushing them, and applying them to wounds. Nature’s pharmacists in action. 🌿 #Wildlife #uganda #Ethnobotany #AnimalIntelligence #Chimpanzees

Wild chimpanzees in Uganda consume alcohol. A recent study detected ethanol in 85% urine samples from wild chimps, confirming regular consumption of fermented fruit. So the question is: what advantage does it give them? Nature rarely wastes a pattern. #Nature #Uganda
