Sleep's primary purpose is recovery and repair, it's impossible to recover mentally and physically without it. Do you know what makes addiction, mental health and public safety issues worse in our communities? SLEEP DEPRIVATION & HOMELESSNESS .... I can't believe some people can't understand this!

It's more humane and a HUGE cost savings on tax payers to house people who are homeless rather than letting them survive on the streets ... - Prison: (provincial) -$326/day or $9,780/per month. - Shelter: - $167/day or 5000/per month. - Hospital (acute care) -$833/day or 25,000/month. It's impossible to recover from any health condition without having a safe place to live.
Toronto's Dunn Street supportive housing saved $413,000 in ER costs and $1.66 million in hospital costs in 1 year. A partnership between UHN, nonprofits and government. Supportive housing is smarter, kinder and better for taxpayers compared to the ER, hospital, shelters or jail

In the Waterloo ruling RE: encampments, Justice Valente set out that any offer of shelter to encampment residents must be truly accessible to meet their unique needs. It isn't adequate to simply hold any shelter space in to meet the legal requirements. /1 ctvnews.ca/toronto/local/art…

Homelessness is a policy failure. #raisetherates In 2023, the province raised shelter rates for people living on PWD, from $375 a month to $500 — but it’s a stark contrast to the current rental prices that many in B.C. pay to have a roof over their head. vancouver.citynews.ca/2025/0…

An important update for all of Ontario re: homelessness: the Superior Court has ruled in favour of encampment residents in Waterloo Region. The Region is restrained from enforcing a by-law to clear an encampment until the constitutionality of the by-law can be determined.
👍The Court has granted an injunction for the 100Vic Encampment Case! The Region is restrained from enforcing its Site-Specific By-law until the constitutionality of the bylaw can be determined following the hearing in November. Read the decision at: wrcls.ca/3878-2

Imagine if "combating homelessness" meant housing people, not brutalizing and disappearing them.

This is shocking. Since @fordnation shut down supervised consumption sites, drop-in programs are seeing massive increases in overdoses — including a 288% increase just last month. Overdoses don't go away; they get moved to spaces with fewer supports and resources.

Wow! Look what you can do if you REALLY want to! In #yyj its lies & broken promises & whining that it’s out of their hands. All while our friends and family suffer and die at the hands of police & bylaw. Shame on them all. Vote them out. #housingisahumanright#yyjpoli
Update: Motion passed unanimously. HOUSING IS A HUMAN RIGHT.
