Danielle Smith almost 1 year ago committed to having a referendum on coal mining if the signatures were collected… We’re betting somewhere a comms person is wordsmithing a “yeah, but she didn’t say when” response… #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

Take 5 minutes this weekend to do this folks. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli
I have posted my letter to the Minister of Primary and Preventive Health Care strongly recommending that the Novavax Fall 2026 COVID vaccine, a non-mRNA vaccine, as well as the mRNA vaccines, be made available to all Albertans free of charge. PLEASE, PLEASE, my fellow Albertans, send supporting correspondence to the same minister in massive volume. Here is the website address: alberta.ca/contact-a-cabinet… My letter is below: Dear Minister: As a physician involved in the care of a LARGE NUMBER of Long COVID patients and an immunocompromised, disabled Albertan myself, I strongly recommend that the Alberta ministry of Health make available to all residents of this province FREE OF CHARGE the fall 2026 Novavax COVID vaccine as an alternative to either the Pfizer or Moderna COVID vaccine.  These have already been paid for with Albertans' taxes. I expect that this strong recommendation will be expedited in an open, transparent fashion with extensive communication. Leslie A. Kasza MD FRCPC

This is... Something. First, Smith confirms that she directed the shutdown of the EMS rebrand herself based on direct feedback from Paramedics... And then she just off-the-cuff announces that there's a deal on Triage Liason Physicians but still has no idea when they'll start.

Making Albertans renew their health cards q5years is a registry money grab & a sure fire way to disrupt accesss to care (esp those living with #chronicdisease). @ABDanielleSmith- please reconsider this if you are sincere in wanting to improve #healthcare access.

Looks like the NDP is gonna have some expanded nominations! #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli
Today, I was pleased to recognize the four members of caucus who won't be seeking re-election after their current term: @joececiyyc , @luanne_metz, @MarlinSchmidtAB, and @LoriSigurdson. They have given decades to public service — a finance minister who steered Alberta through an oil price collapse, a neurologist shaping the future of public health care, an advanced education minister who froze tuition to keep school within reach, and a seniors and housing minister who delivered Alberta's first affordable housing strategy. Their contributions, in and out of the Legislature, have made a lasting difference in the lives of Albertans, and we are grateful for their service in building a better future for us all. On behalf of our entire caucus: thank you.

Smith confirmed today that one of the biggest reasons for the new ID's... (For all ages) Is so that Alberta Health Care can expire every 5 years if not renewed. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

Today, Smith announced that she is not going to allow Albertans to vote on the Water not Coal petition for literally YEARS. How do we know? Let's start with the clip from "Your Province, Your Premier" where she states she'll follow the process in the act... /1 #abpoli #ableg

But wait! It gets worse! Given that the legislature is only in session 1 year away from the next election, & given that the committee can only be formed & give their results within that period... That means the committee results can only come during the black out period. /3

So even if Smith doesn't spin the question the way she did with the separatist question... Albertans are looking at least 2 more years before they're able to vote on the Water Not Coal question. And at most? 4 years. Because Smith believes in democracy. /fin

Long (and likely triggering for self harm/suicide) thread… Earlier today we were provided a copy of the suicide note left by someone who had spent a lifetime struggling with mental health & physical disabilities. We will not be sharing it. We would like to explain why. /1

This is also not to absolve anyone from the responsibility of initiating policy choices that have dropped anvils on the backs of people for whom every day is a struggle. We will continue to do all we can here in our own very small way to hold those people to account. /14

Our most sincere condolences to all of those reeling from the loss of Bruce Johnson. That pain and loss only underscores though… Every life matters and makes its mark. /fin
