On September 12, 2024, a record-breaking 19 people are simultaneously orbiting Earth aboard different spacecraft and space stations.
The ๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป, currently orbiting at an altitude of around 400 km, is hosting 13 astronauts and cosmonauts. This includes Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, Jeanette Epps, and Alexander Grebenkin from the ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ซ ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐-๐ด ๐บ๐ถ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป. Also aboard are Barry Wilmore and Sunita Williams, part of the crew from the partially failed Starliner Flight Test.
In addition, the ISS is accommodating the returning crew of ๐ฆ๐ผ๐๐๐ ๐ ๐ฆ-๐ฎ๐ฑโTracy Dyzon, Oleg Kononenko, and Nikolai Chubโas well as the newly arrived crew of ๐ฆ๐ผ๐๐๐ ๐ ๐ฆ-๐ฎ๐ฒโDon Pettit, Aleksey Ovchinin, and Ivan Vagner.
Meanwhile, the ๐ง๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐ผ๐ป๐ด ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป, orbiting at an altitude of approximately 375 km, is home to three taikonauts of ๐ฆ๐ต๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ต๐ผ๐ ๐ญ๐ด mission - Ye Guangfu, Li Cong, and Li Guangsu.
Finally, the private mission ๐ฃ๐ผ๐น๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ป is currently in space aboard the SpaceX Dragon capsule, which has taken them as far as 1,400 km from Earth. The crew consists of Scott Poteet, Sarah Gillis, Anna Menon, led by billionaire Jared Isaacman.
