π¨ An insiderβs tip from The Caring View π¨
Back in August, Mark Topps was looped into a conversation that was still very much at the βearly ideaβ stage. There was no platform, no library, just a shared frustration about how difficult it is for care providers to access clear, reliable policies.
That idea was OpenDoc.
A couple of months later, Ruth Kyle π and Dr. Devan Moodley reached out properly to talk about making it real. What stood out immediately was the pace. The team at Health Connect moved quickly, with a clear sense of purpose, to turn it into something practical for the sector.
Since then, OpenDoc has grown fast. Many across social care will have already seen it mentioned.
At its core, OpenDoc is a free policy library for social care, with policies reviewed, verified, and contributed to by people who understand care in the real world. Mark has been involved in reviewing policies alongside other sector experts - a process that reflects the collaborative spirit behind the project.
What started as a simple conversation is now set to launch officially at the Care Leadersβ Summit 2026, taking place on 28 January at the Garden Museum in Westminster.
For anyone interested in following OpenDocβs journey or attending the summit, sign-up details are available via the links in the comments.
From the Caring View perspective, OpenDoc represents a meaningful step towards better access, shared knowledge, and stronger foundations for care delivery. Itβs a project weβre proud to be supporting and one weβll be watching closely as it continues to grow.
