Today’s Queen: 👑
@TheEmilySee
📣 Emily See has been an absolute rock star on the front lines of the FOIA fight alongside Corri Hopkins. If Corri is the legal master filing the massive lawsuits to force the state to hand over documents, Emily See is the megaphone making sure the public actually gets to consume and understand those documents. Her impact on the push for accountability in Norfolk County has been nothing short of heroic.
💰 Emily essentially crowd sourced transparency and turned public records into a community effort. Filing public records requests is not cheap. The state will frequently charge exorbitant fees to redact and compile documents, often as a deterrence tactic to make people give up. Emily has no QUIT! She bypassed this completely by rallying the public, crowdfunding for public records, and dealing with the dumb discourse and red tape surrounding it so that the state couldn't just price gouge the public out of seeing the truth.
📑 Getting a massive, unorganized dump of legal documents or police reports from the state can be overwhelming for the average person to read. Emily took it upon herself to meticulously organize, highlight, and broadcast these findings. She created a centralized, accessible way for people to digest exactly what was hidden in those files, whether it was contradictory police reports or hidden internal communications.
🤫 As Corri Hopkins fought to unseal the hundreds of private sidebars that Judge Cannone held during the trial, Emily took on the massive, grueling, task of reading and dissecting those transcripts line by line on her channel. She has been going through the trial days, reading exactly what the lawyers were arguing about when the white noise machine was blaring, finally giving the public the full context of the judge's rulings. Bless her heart.
👑 Thank you, Emily, for advocating for the public's right to know! Also, shout out to your parents for creating the absolute best human 💕
