On January 31, 2013, fresh faeces appeared on Kim's balcony, this time piled up deliberately rather than washed down. A condo manager emailed the HOA board the same day: "Mr. Kim is about to reach his breaking point." The couple's eviction was scheduled to begin three days later. Nobody told Kim. Three days later he picked up a gun. On the morning of February 4, Kim sh*t Michelle Jackson as she stood on her balcony. He then went upstairs to her apartment and shot Jamie Stafford as he tried to escape through the back patio door. Their newborn baby and four other young children were inside. In a jailhouse interview Kim claimed Stafford had pulled a gun first and he had wrestled it away using martial arts. "Before he pull trigger, I got him!" he said. Police described a completely different sequence of events. His defence attorney told the jury: "This wasn't a dispute. This was terrorism. This man was under siege." The prosecutor's response was equally pointed: "Is taking a Glock 45 and shooting people in the head a reasonable way to resolve a dispute?" The jury convicted him of capital m*rder. He was sentenced to life in prison.
