Please thank your wonderful little person for inspiring me through their picture and their learning . I will try not to get disheartened when learning feels tough because that’s the magic place when I’m learning. The Learning Pit animation is for everyone!
#LETSRALLY#COLLABORATE2INNOVATE@InnoEdOIE@JamesNottinghm the keynote this morning was FIRE! as a math teacher, ver rarely do I hear a method that can EASILY integrate with what we ALREADY DO at my school...changing evaluate to "explore". Interesting! Great presentation!
Mr Cuthbertson (music) & Ms Scott (science) felt the pit @JamesNottinghm helped them and their students as a metaphor for learning @PortobelloHigh @osirisedu Mr Cuthbertson said it perfectly applied to learning a musical instrument in his opinion 🙌🏻
My cute little person came home from school & drew a favourite concept we talk about often “learning pit” @TheLearningPit@JamesNottinghm
“If you leap over pit, it’s probably not learning, Mummy” 🥰🤩
Lots of team learning today @jo_fitzgerald21 @krjacks@Josephi13351788 😍
Here is a snippet from my chat with the amazing @JamesNottinghm Nottingham. James Nottingham is the creator of the @TheLearningPit. We talked about insights from pig farming and how a trip to South Africa changed his life. Enjoy.. shorturl.at/iDHJQ
Delighted to be heading down to Rochdale tomorrow. I’ll be talking about ways to help pupils love challenge, use mistakes productively, and build a language for learning #LearningPit@TheLearningPit
Fab trip working with staff in Huddinge, Stockholm & then @iborganization staff in #Norway. Made even sweeter by catching up with old colleagues before & after 🇸🇪 🇳🇴
Lovely to see you using one our our graphics. I’m sure the #LearningPit creator @JamesNottinghm will be pleased to see his work used in connection with deeper learning
Great visual for what productive struggle looks like. #learningpit@allison_zmuda Shift to deeper learning: How can we support Ss movement through the learning pit without taking away their ownership of learning?
We created tools to help us when we get stuck in the learning pit. Great strategies were suggested such as: ‘ask a friend’, ‘ask the teacher’, be resilient’, ‘bounce back’, ‘use a dictionary’ and ‘use a multiplication square’. #learningpit#buildingresilience
Great to be back in Uppsala 🇸🇪
Questions for today include:
1. How can we encourage our students to step out of their comfort zones?
2. Why and how should we develop our students’ self-efficacy?
3. Which approach to questioning leads to the best learning outcomes?
