On February 22nd, we joined a cohort of 70 Black fund managers at the Eisenhower Executive Office to discuss how Venture Capital could be the key to unlocking trillions of dollars of US GDP and to addressing the racial wealth inequities that continue to plague our society.
1/3 Melissa Bradley, the MP of 1863 Ventures, has been at this game for decades. She pioneered this Black-led national business development nonprofit accelerator and venture capital fund for New Majority Founders
2/3 (i.e., individuals who have been historically underestimated, including Black and Latino men and women). Which is why Melissa is our very first #Visionary from our #OverlookedVisionaries series.
3/3 Her leadership was in supporting founders of color before it was cool. Melissa — we cannot express how grateful we are that you laid the foundation for this important new frontier. And we promise: we won’t f*ck this up.
The immeasurable impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s contribution is impossible to capture in a simple caption. He was a true visionary: dreaming of a future during a time when most could not comprehend.
Even as he was attacked, harassed, and ultimately killed for his work, he fought on. May we remember him, his work, and his dream as we continue to strive for a more equitable future.
We’re still buzzing from #ArtBasel2022, even a month later. We had the distinct pleasure of co-hosting an event with our friends at @BLCKVC at the beautiful Bath Club in Miami, where Don Peebles riveted us with the story of his acquisition of the venue.
We launched our #OverlookedVisionaries concept, and honored the indomitable Melissa Bradley for her pioneering work in the venture space. We laughed, we danced, we broke bread. Wait till you see what we have in store for the next one…
Throughout and beyond Native American Heritage month, we admire and revere the outstanding contributions of indigenous founders who bestow incredible value to our collective society.

We believe there is an imperative to shift the way we think about valuing businesses. It’s not about what businesses can do for shareholders, it’s about the ways businesses can be transformational in the lives of the their communities, their stakeholders.
Inspired by @BuildinTulsa who are fulfilling the historical promise of Black Wall Street for future generations by “celebrating what was built, then rebuilt by Black Americans,” in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

1/2 Last week, President Joe Biden pardoned all federal offenses for marijuana possession. The @nytimes estimates this executive order will positively impact a minimum of 6,500 people and remove “needless barriers to employment, housing, and educational opportunities”
