New in @Naturecomms: Emerging Leader Award winner Ku-Lung Hsu (@Hsu_Lab_UVa) has built a tool to map the "human purine interactome", made up of 31,000 sites across all proteins that could be targeted by cancer drugs—including one site that shows immediate therapeutic promise.

Best of all, the researchers also identified an effective prevention strategy. Among patients with this signature, an existing anti-inflammatory drug cut lung cancer risk nearly in half—similar to the cardiovascular disease risk reduction from taking statins.
