You have no understanding of what individualism is if you believe this refutes it.
When the framers drafted the Constitution, they explicitly rejected the idea that a monarch or divine power granted the right to rule. Starting with âWe the Peopleâ serves as a literal contract among individual citizens to form a collective "body politic.â
Individualism is the basis for natural INDIVIDUAL rights and government power is only legitimate if it has the consent of the governed.
If the government breaks the contract by violating natural individual rights (life, liberty, and property), the citizens have a right to change or abolish it. This is not achievable in a true âcollectivistâ society under communism.
In a collectivist system, the individual can never overthrow the state in the name of personal freedom, because the state's survival always supersedes the individual's desires. The right to revolution proves that the individual remains the ultimate sovereign.
Because collectivism views the group as supreme, an individual cannot claim their "natural rights" are being violated to justify changing the system. Under communism, the individual has no standing to sue or overthrow the collective, because the individual's rights do not exist independently of the group.
Individualism is what is killing the West. We used to have collective communities and gatherings in those communities. Europeans operated as a collective to look out for each other. They formed this nation as a collective.
âWe the peopleâ not âI the personâ
