@RepAuchincloss is proposing legislation that would update the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) of 1998; namely it would:
> Change the definition of “child” in the bill from anyone under 13 to anyone under the age of 16;
> Require that commercial website operator actually verify the age of all users to determine that users are not under the age of 16;
> Require companies to protect the data used in verifying age.
