Just wrapped the school year and marked 2 years as ED of @TheReadingTeam. We moved into a new home, grew enrollment, saw strong ELA gains, raised record funds, and welcomed 7 new board members. Grateful for our team and all who make this work possible!
We're delighted to welcome Allison Otis and Carrie Quinn to our Board of Directors! Thank you for answering the call to partner in this life changing work! #education#literacy
Tonight, we joined the Tamer Center at @Columbia_Biz for their #Nonprofit Board Showcase. So many talented people interested in helping to advance our work!
Good culture is the basis for producing good, consistent results. Last night, our ED @DobaDarris hosted the #leadership team for a homemade 7 course #omakase. It was a small thank you for all the work they've been doing to advance the literacy rates of #Harlem children.
We're delighted to share that Charity Reeves has joined us as our new Program Director! Charity brings over a decade of experience in program management and development, with a focus on youth and #education. #Harlem#literacy
The Reading Team is excited to welcome Elizabeth Wilkins Everett and Tyler R. Lewis to our Board of Directors. Thank you for answering the call to serve #Harlem's children! #Equity#Education#Literacy
Thank you Barbara LaVallee, Susie Reiss, Elizabeth Wilkins Everett, and Tyler R. Lewis for not only touring the After-School program, but also volunteering your time to help children read.

Yesterday, @TheReadingTeam was visited by @ksuttonjames, #Manhattan Deputy Borough President. She was incredibly generous with her time, sharing both great insights about how to help our students as well as reading with them. A few photos:
What’s the difference between vowels and consonants? It’s all in how you say it! Vowels are pronounced without obstructing the air to flow through the mouth. Consonants are made by releasing air and with the assistance of the tongue, lips or teeth.
