Teen Girl Dies in Shooting on Barnaby Street SE WASHINGTON, D.C. — Metropolitan Police Department detectives are investigating a fatal shooting involving a juvenile Saturday night in Southeast Washington. According to preliminary information, officers responded to the 900 block of Barnaby Street Southeast for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an approximately 14-year-old juvenile female suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead. Early information from the scene indicates the shooting may have been accidental and involved another teenager who was reportedly handling a firearm when it discharged. Investigators have not officially confirmed those details. A large police presence remained on scene as detectives processed evidence and interviewed witnesses. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, and officials have not yet released the victim’s identity.
