The older I get, the more I realise that talent and recognition don’t always travel together.
Some of the greatest contributors to music never receive the credit they truly deserve.
@TheRealSambora is a perfect example.
When people talk about legendary guitarists, his name should be one of the first mentioned, if not the first. When people talk about great songwriters, he belongs in that conversation too.
But what made Richie special wasn’t just his ability to play.
It was his ability to feel.
Every solo told a story. Every harmony added emotion. Every song carried a piece of who he was.
You can teach technique.
You can’t teach soul.
That’s what Richie brought to every stage, every recording, and every song he helped create.
The greatest musicians leave fingerprints on their music.
Richie left his fingerprints on an entire era.
Millions know the songs.
Millions know the choruses.
But perhaps not enough people realise just how much of that magic came from one man standing slightly to the side of centre stage, letting his guitar do the talking.
No drama.
No ego.
Just extraordinary talent.
A songwriter.
A guitarist.
A musician’s musician.
A genuine rock and roll icon.
Some people chase greatness.
