'BABALIK TAYO SA PAGSUNOD SA BUILDING CODE'
#ICYMI: In times of calamity, preparedness is the best way to ensure everyone’s safety, PHIVOLCS Director Teresito Bacolcol said.
In an interview on DZRH’s
#SpecialOnSaturday, Bacolcol stressed that preparedness should begin at home, noting that it is everyone’s responsibility to teach family members the “duck, cover, and hold” technique practiced during earthquake drills.
However, he warned that while the drill can be properly executed, it will not be effective if homes collapse due to the lack of strict enforcement of the building code.
“First and foremost, we really have to follow the building code, at ’wag na tayong mag-cut corners pa kasi tayo rin naman ’yung magkakaroon ng problema, lalo na kapag may sakuna katulad ng lindol,” he said.
