Bitcoin's landscape is changing... With the stablecoin base surging past $308B and onchain credit markets capturing the majority of leverage activity, leaving BTC idle now carries a measurable opportunity cost. We've put together a guide to use your Bitcoin proactively onchain through the most decentralized tokenized Bitcoin asset, tBTC. Read the guide: threshold.network/blog/tbtc-…

In a keynote presented last year at the Bitcoin Economy conference, Threshold Network co-founder, Maclane Wilkison (@MacLaneWilkison), shared some lessons from a 6-year battle-tested BTC bridge. Now, Threshold continues to expand Bitcoin utility onchain: meeting users, and now institutions, where they're at through enforceable legal frameworks, segregated custody, verifiable UTXOs, and a zero-loss track record.

Bitcoin is down 50% from ATH, but the utility doesn't stop. Where would you rather put your Onchain Bitcoin during Bearish months?
43% Bitcoin yield vaults

tBTC's DeFi growth remains concentrated in leading blue-chip protocols, reinforcing its role as a go-to asset in the Bitcoin Economy. Aave V3 alone holds $138M, 29% of tBTC's DeFi TVL and the single largest driver of BTC-denominated growth, with supplied collateral up 24% QoQ. Together with Curve and YieldBasis, these three protocols account for roughly 57% of total tBTC deployed in DeFi. Here is a snapshot of tBTC's current position in BTCFi by Alea Research.

Threshold Labs Co-Founder Callan Sarre ( @saprophetik ) said it back in October with @BitcoinCom: Institutional capital needs real security safeguards and trust assumptions built for their needs. Months on, it's only more true, and permissionless products alone aren't enough to support it. The first stage of institutional capital deploying onchain is already happening with Threshold's Verifiable Bitcoin Accounts.

2/3 Curated single-asset vaults are leading the charge in 2026. Vaults like @noon_capital, @EmberProtocol, and @endurfi . Offers diversified strategies to maximize yield. Noon Vault's looped BTC-to-stable strategies, such as sUSN integration, are built for the kind of capital that conducts detailed risk reviews to ensure added security.

3/3 The deepest tBTC pools by TVL to deploy size without diluting your yields. @CurveFinance's crvUSD-TBTC pool on Ethereum is the structural anchor of tBTC LP liquidity. $57M in a single pool paying 6.41% organic yield from swap fees alone; no CRV gauge emissions or third-party incentives inflating the headline number. Real volume, real fees, executed inside Curve's crypto AMM, one of the most battle-tested AMM designs for volatile-pair liquidity in DeFi.

migration has started. all @yieldbasis LPs should take action. you can migrate normally, no rush. • migration is now available and recommended for btc markets. if you have positions, they will appear automatically in [MY MARKETS] -> choose pool -> MIGRATE • TRD in the eth pool is currently not optimal for migration, it might be better to wait. • 1m cap per market is available in v3 without migration (btc pools already filled up)

1/2 tBTC supply on Aave V3 climbed to roughly 2,100 tBTC in Q1 2026, a 24% increase quarter-over-quarter. The continued expansion of supply-side liquidity has reinforced tBTC's position as the lowest-borrow-rate BTC derivative onchain, making it the most cost-effective option for users seeking BTC-backed leverage or onchain liquidity.

2/2 Aave is the clear outlier among the top 25 tBTC addresses, compared with about 850 tBTC in @YieldBasis / @CurveFinance and 560 tBTC in @MezoNetwork Bridge. That puts Aave at approximately 2.7x the size of the next-largest venue and more than 4x that of Mezo Bridge, highlighting where tBTC liquidity is most concentrated across DeFi.

1/2 On May 18, 2026, at 10:04 AM UTC, malicious actors attempted to mint tBTC without depositing the underlying Bitcoin (BTC). Their attempts were clearly unsuccessful. No invalid tBTC was issued, and user funds were not at risk. As a precaution, due to the elevated frequency of malicious activity across the broader crypto ecosystem, Optimistic Minting is temporarily paused. Mints now route through the sweeping mechanism, increasing typical mint time from ~1.5 hours to ~6-7 hours.

2/2 What is optimistic minting? tBTC's base security model is a decentralized signer network that holds the underlying Bitcoin and validates every native mint against a verifiable Bitcoin SPV proof. Optimistic minting uses a different trust model: Minters and Guardians, rather than SPV proofs, confirm deposits and issue tBTC in roughly 1.5 hours, rather than 6 to 7 hours. You can verify the transaction pausing optimistic minting here: etherscan.io/tx/0xed9f759d09…
