what type of madness is this?
In a sovereign country, terrorists kidnapped, killed, and handed over the body of an Army Major General — and walked away unchallenged... 😑

Today, I am honoured to join distinguished Nigerians in celebrating a statesman and elder of our nation, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, GCFR, on the occasion of his 84th birthday and the public presentation of books documenting his remarkable life, service, and contributions to Nigeria and Africa. General Abdulsalami occupies a unique place in our national history. At a critical moment in Nigeria's journey, he demonstrated uncommon courage, patriotism, and selflessness by guiding our nation through a peaceful transition to democratic governance. His actions helped lay the foundation for the democratic dispensation that Nigeria continues to build upon today. As we celebrate General Abdulsalami today, we are reminded that true leadership is measured not by the accumulation of power, but by the positive impact one leaves on people and institutions. His life continues to demonstrate that service to the nation must always be guided by responsibility and a commitment to the common good. May Almighty God continue to grant him good health, wisdom, and strength to keep serving humanity and our nation. Thank you, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. -PO

Yesterday, I had the honour of hosting my brother and partner, His Excellency Peter Obi, at my residence in Abuja. I warmly welcomed him back from his highly productive international trip, and we engaged in frank and productive discussions on key partisan and national issues. Our party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), remains united. As leaders, we must continue to demonstrate maturity by making the necessary sacrifices and tolerating our differences in pursuit of our shared goal. We are resolute in this mission, and together, we shall ensure that Nigeria is OK. - RMK

What June 12 Should Mean to Us Nigerians Today, we observe a day that should mean a great deal to us as a people who cherish democratic principles. Every year on June 12, the conversation inevitably turns to a critical assessment of the state of our nation. It serves as an annual benchmark for asking important questions: Are our elections today as transparent as they were in 1993? Is the social contract being honoured? Are the institutions of governance truly serving the people? Ultimately, June 12 is a powerful blend of reflection and aspiration. It honours a fractured past while serving as a constant and foundational reminder of the immense power inherent in the collective democratic will of the Nigerian people. For us in Nigeria, June 12 is not merely a date on the calendar; it is the emotional and structural bedrock of our modern democratic identity. Officially recognised as Democracy Day, June 12 carries deep historical, political, and social significance, representing both a monumental tragedy and the ultimate triumph of the collective will of the people. To understand what June 12 means to Nigeria, one must examine its history, its evolution, and its enduring symbolism. A new era of true democracy is POssible. -PO

As the World Cup Begins Without Nigeria As the World Cup begins today across three nations, I identify with our teeming football followers and urge them not to be despondent that Nigeria is not participating, despite the abundant talent in our land. Our failure to participate on the global stage is not due to a deficit of talent; it is a direct consequence of a deficit in leadership, planning, and institutional support. The task of building a better Nigeria rests primarily on the shoulders of the younger generation. Do not watch the World Cup with despair; rather, see it as a reminder of where Nigeria ought to be. We must move our country from being a nation of mere consumers of global entertainment to a nation of proud producers and competitors. A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO

In continuation of my quest to deepen knowledge and impact positively on our society, yesterday June 10th, in London, I held a series of important engagements, including a fruitful meeting with Alex Vines, Director of the Africa Programme at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR). Our discussions focused on strengthening strategic relationships and fostering a deeper understanding of Africa’s evolving role in global affairs. It was emphasized that Africa must no longer be viewed merely through the prism of statistics or humanitarian concern, but as a serious and equal partner in shaping the future global order, much like India, Indonesia, and other emerging centres of influence. During our engagement, it became increasingly clear that Africa, and Nigeria in particular, must be placed at the centre of international conversations on partnership, trade, governance, innovation, and sustainable development. Constructive dialogue and mutual respect remain essential to building meaningful cooperation between Africa and the international community. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Sad: Our Children Are Now Pawns in a Deadly Ransom Economy It’s heartbreaking to report yet another bandit attack on a school, barely three weeks after over 40 schoolchildren and their teachers were abducted and are still languishing in the forest. The security situation in Kogi State has taken another tragic turn with a brutal bandit attack on Government Secondary School, Iluke, in Kabba-Bunu LGA. Armed bandits disguised in military uniforms invaded the school during an ongoing WAEC examination, killed the Vice Principal, Mr. Gani Anifowose, and attempted a mass abduction of students. Reports from the scene indicate that local security personnel and vigilantes actively resisted the attackers and frustrated their abduction attempt. Making educational institutions soft targets is a direct assault on the nation’s future. It creates a psychological barrier to school enrolment and worsens Nigeria’s out-of-school children crisis, disproportionately forcing young girls out of formal education due to fear. There is nothing more heartbreaking for a nation than being unable to protect its children. My heartfelt condolences go to the family of the Vice Principal, who lost his life while gallantly defending the children entrusted to his care. May God grant his soul eternal repose.-PO

ANY ASPIRANT ACCUSING NDC OF FRAUD IS NOT BEING SINCERE Under the electoral guidelines released by the party, some pre-qualification conditions were set for all Aspirants as seen below: 1. Must be a FINANCIALLY up-to-date member of the party. 2. Must provide EVIDENCE of CONTRIBUTION to the growth of the party. 3. Must demonstrate CAPACITY to win the election, etc. If you were truly asked to pay Development Levy or Full Membership Dues as a condition to contest in the party, how is that a fraud? Did the party FORCE any Aspirant to pay? Why didn't you forfeit your ambition or leave the party if you knew the system was fraudulent? In an attempt to please the party or show capacity, most of these Aspirants may have made donations to the NDC, which, in my opinion, could not have amounted to fraud. Was the money paid into an individual account or the party account? Does only the NDC require its members to make financial donations? While I will not support any form of fraud, it is also important that we be truthful.

I just received the sad news of the train derailment along the Warri–Itakpe rail corridor in Delta State. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the families who lost their loved ones in this unfortunate mishap, and I pray for the quick recovery of those injured. I urge the relevant authorities to investigate the immediate and remote causes of this derailment swiftly, ensure full accountability, and implement measures to restore public confidence in our rail systems. -PO

Terrible things happen when convicts occupy serious positions of public trust & significance. That is where we are with the Committee on the @SEDCgov in @SenateNGR. It chaired by a convict, which is why we must #RetireOUK. It is election season & @OUKtweets wants the Commission to fund his election rigging #PiggyBank. So, he is harassing the Commission under the #FalsePretence of #Oversight. This letter here from the Committee to the Commission is not even worth a teaspoonful of #WarmSpittle. It is interesting that @OUKtweets is asking for hard & soft copies of the entrails of the #SEDC. But they are not interested in how much the Committee has received or when. So let us break it down. The #SEDC was inaugurated Feb 2025. For the 1st 9 months, it received absolutely nothing in terms of promised funds. To date, the Commission has received zero Naira of #Capex. In Dec 2025, the Commission eventually received a take-off grant of N5m. Much of this information is in the public domain. @OUKtweets has been long enough in public office to know the calendar of audits of #MDAs. He knows that the SEDC has yet to be audited by the Auditor-General. But he is asking for audit reports & audited accounts. @senateNGR of which @ouktweets is a principal officer, says Nigeria shd operate 3 budgets. @SEDCgov has 2 unfunded budgets. Instead of helping to get the funds of the Commission released, a convict in high places wants to turn the Commission into an object of Parliamentary #StripTease. And the way this reads, he has arranged to put this into the media in order to set the Commission up for blackmail. The goal is clear: he wants a share of the #TakeOffGrant & of any recurrent funds that the Commission gets. And he cannot hide it. #RetireOUK. We don't need criminals in public life. journalist101.com/2026/06/06…

Building a Healthier Nigeria Through Stronger Healthcare Systems As part of our desire and commitment to building a healthier Nigeria, I met with some healthcare professionals and experts in the United States on Friday, June 5, 2026. The meeting was essentially to deepen my understanding of how successful health insurance systems deliver improved healthcare, especially in the areas of primary and emergency care. One of our key health objectives remains unchanged: to expand health insurance coverage, strengthen primary healthcare across our electoral wards, train more healthcare workers, and make quality healthcare accessible and affordable for all Nigerians. A New Nigeria must be a healthier Nigeria. A New Nigeria is possible. -PO

The abduction of the Chibok girls in 2014 triggered a global movement. One school abduction was enough to unite Nigerians, attract international attention, and place enormous pressure on the government through the #BringBackOurGirls campaign. Yet, what has happened since then should trouble every Nigerian. Under President Buhari's eight years in office, Nigeria witnessed about ten school abductions. Under President Tinubu's administration, in just three years, we have already recorded over ten school abductions. Despite these repeated tragedies, there has been neither sustained national outrage nor significant international attention comparable to what followed Chibok. This raises an important question: have we become so accustomed to insecurity that what once shocked our national conscience is now treated as normal? At a time when millions of Nigerians are grappling with insecurity, poverty, and hardship, it is deeply troubling that those in power appear more focused on political calculations and preparations for the next election than on addressing the urgent challenges confronting our people. It is, therefore, no surprise that some observers have labelled us a "Now Disgraced Nation". While we do not agree with any attempt to define our great country by its present difficulties, we must acknowledge that persistent insecurity, economic hardship, and leadership failure have damaged our reputation and standing among nations. The answer is not denial, propaganda, or political distraction. The answer is leadership that is competent, compassionate, accountable, and genuinely committed to the welfare and security of the Nigerian people. The Nigerian youth must not become indifferent. We must all refuse to normalise failure. Young Nigerians - Take back your country! A New Nigeria is Possible. -PO

Dear Young Nigerians, One lesson from the 2023 elections, particularly in Lagos, should never be forgotten. In the period following the presidential election and leading up to the governorship election, we witnessed a troubling shift in public discourse. Conversations that should have focused on competence, governance, development, and the future of our nation were gradually diverted towards tribal sentiments, ethnic divisions, and unnecessary suspicion among citizens. Many sincere and well-meaning Nigerians participated in these conversations without realising that they were being drawn into narratives carefully designed by others. Throughout history, whenever politicians find it difficult to compete on ideas, performance, character, or vision, some resort to exploiting the fault lines of ethnicity, religion, and identity. Their calculation is simple: a divided people are easier to manipulate than a united people. Today, I see similar efforts emerging again, sometimes in more subtle and sophisticated ways. Narratives are planted, amplified, and circulated, often by individuals who genuinely believe they are defending a worthy cause, without recognizing the broader agenda behind such campaigns. Let me state clearly that Pastor Enoch Adeboye remains one of the foremost fathers of faith in our nation. For decades, he has consistently preached the virtues of peace, prayer, love, reconciliation, and national unity. Even when faced with provocation, his response has always reflected humility, restraint, wisdom, and grace. At 84 years of age, it would be unfair for young and able-bodied Nigerians to transfer to him responsibilities that properly belong to them. The task of building a better Nigeria rests primarily on the shoulders of the younger generation. It is their duty to lead the conversations, champion the reforms, and drive the positive change our nation urgently requires. We must be careful not to become instruments in the hands of those who secretly nurture division while publicly preaching unity. In most cases, their target is not the individual being attacked; instead, it is the person who is attacking. Their real objective is to weaken the bonds that hold us together as one people and one nation. I therefore urge all young Nigerians: do not allow anyone to recruit you into hatred. Do not allow anyone to weaponise your ethnicity, your faith, or your admiration for respected leaders. Question every narrative. Verify every claim. Follow the facts. Resist manipulation. The Nigeria of our dreams can only be built by citizens who refuse to be divided, who choose unity over hatred, and who place our collective future above narrow interests. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Please release these children for the sake of our shared humanity I am deeply shocked and heartbroken by the condition in which these abducted school children are, as seen from their flagellated bodies. It is a painful reminder of the depth of insecurity in our land. I have always made it clear that the society we abuse today will take its revenge on our children tomorrow. When I first began making that statement, some of these children were not even born. This is a classic example of how the abuse of governance and society today can produce devastating consequences long after the abusers are gone. It is on the same line that I argue that the loans our leaders take today will hurt our children in the future, as many of them will mature for repayment and consequences long after we are gone. To those holding these children, I make a direct appeal to your conscience. Remember that these are innocent children - sons and daughters of people who have placed their hopes, dreams, and entire future in them. In every one of them, you will find reflections of your own children, your own family, and your own humanity. No grievance, no hardship, no justification can ever outweigh the sanctity of a child’s life and innocence. Whatever path has led to this moment, there is still room for remorse, for humanity, and for a change of heart. I therefore appeal to your sense of mercy: release these children immediately. Let them go. Return them safely to society to reunite with their families. -PO

📌 DID YOU KNOW? 🇳🇬 In April 2014, then Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, stated that Anambra State was Nigeria’s safest state over the preceding five years, according to police records during Peter Obi’s administration. He also noted that there was no recorded bank robbery in the state during that period. #Statisense
Concerns About Deteriorating Security Two weeks have passed since schoolchildren were kidnapped in Borno and Oyo States, yet they remain in captivity. Meanwhile, the government is promoting the formation of a thousand-member rescue team through the media while the children continue to suffer in the wilderness. Today, the security situation across the nation continues to deteriorate. On Sunday, terrorists killed at least seven people and injured ten others in Gwon-Ajang Village, located in the Foron District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State. In Kogi State, armed assailants kidnapped over 25 individuals and killed one resident during a coordinated raid on the Ayegunle-Igun Community in Kaba-Bunu Local Government Area. These heavily armed attackers carried out their operation in a commando-style manner, terrifying residents in the early hours of Monday. In Anambra State, we also mourn the loss of two police officers who were killed in a bandit attack. We still remember the painful incident in which armed individuals targeted three schools—Community Grammar School, Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School in the Ahoro-Esinle Community (Oriire Local Government Area near Ogbomoso)—and kidnapped 46 people, including 39 students, seven teachers, and the school principal. On the same day, between 48 and 51 pupils and students in the Mussa Community (Askira-Uba Local Government Area) were abducted by suspected Boko Haram insurgents. The victims, who included young children from nursery classes as well as primary and secondary school students, were taken on May 15, 2026, and have now remained in captivity for two weeks. Meanwhile, amid all these tragic developments, we politicians remain consumed by the next election, paying far more attention to political ambitions than to the safety and well-being of our children and fellow citizens. In a nation that is not at war, the ongoing insecurity that endangers schoolchildren signifies a profound and serious challenge. -PO

When the Chibok girls disaster and insecurity were rampaging the north, you people called for Jonathan’s head. Since he was the chief security officer, and rightly so, we all demanded action from him. Now this insecurity has worsened under this administration, yet you people say we should deflect responsibility to the governors instead? Were there no governors during GEJ’s time? Make me understand quickly. In 2014, our current president boldly stated that “on matters of security, the buck of the responsibility falls on the president’s table.” He’s now the president and commander of a very powerful military. Stop these fucking terrorists!!!!!
