Is your organisation considering inclusive, flexible holiday leave?
Beyond Christmas and New Year’s, employees may celebrate various cultural and religious festivals. Recognising these holidays and offering flexible leave is key to fostering inclusivity.
Are your festive decorations missing the mark on inclusivity? Remember, not everyone celebrates Christmas. Incorporate elements like diyas for Diwali or a Kinara for Kwanzaa to create a welcoming environment. How do you ensure everyone feels seen in your space?
ThinkEDI’s Festive Allyship Tip #2: Learn About Diverse Celebrations
From Diwali and Hanukkah to Kwanzaa and the Winter Solstice, the festive season is celebrated in many ways. Learning about these traditions helps create a more inclusive and respectful environment for all.
As we celebrate the festive season, it’s important to recognise the diverse range of traditions and beliefs within our communities. Instead of defaulting to "Merry Christmas," consider using more inclusive greetings like "Happy Holidays" or "Season’s Greetings."
