This day 47 years ago – 20 July 1974 – a group of women protested the hitherto male-only bathing place of Forty Foot, Sandycove, Co Dublin.
Among those protesting were journalist Nell McCafferty, politician Nuala Fennell and poet Mary D'Arcy.
From then on, the area was shared.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said,
“Today we as a people have spoken, and we say we trust women and respect women to make their own decisions and their own choices.”

It was impossible not to be moved after Tom Hand, Emily's father, spoke about his daughter when it was believed she had been killed.
Hamas should release her, unconditionally, along with any other hostages captured on Oct 7th.
I cannot see why anyone would disagree with that.

The Irish Embassy to Israel has confirmed that Emily Hand, an eight-year-old Irish-Israeli girl, is believed to have been abducted and not murdered by Hamas on October 7.

239 hostages are still being held in Gaza by Hamas, the youngest Kfir Bibas (9 months).
No matter how righteous you think you are, if you believe taking an infant hostage is excusable, you are not the good guys.

Tragic.
The victim blaming of Kim Damti on many Irish social media accounts over the past few days has been sickening.
This Irish person hopes her murderers are met with retributive justice.

I am shocked by the lack of compassion shown for Kim Damti (22) on Irish social media over the past few days.
This is an Irish citizen, whose whereabouts are unknown since Hamas opened fire on an Israeli music festival on Oct 7th.
I hope she is returned to her family, safe.
