Mazen Aboulhosn is a former pres of the Lions Club & son of a former judge. He sexually assaulted his maid. "I was sleeping & he came into my room & tried to take off my PJs." She said he often walked around naked. He cut her contact with family & stopped paying🧵@LionsClubs

TIL was contacted by the family. A negotiator called Mazen who said she was happy and staying willingly. He said TIL had no right to ask about her salary and he'd warned the embassy who'd called. TIL was unaware of the rapes. In Feb 2022 she managed to escape! KAFA picked her up.

Mazen filed a lawsuit against TIL for aiding her escape. He accused her of theft. She spent 9.5 mths in a safe house. Mazen refused to respond to Gen Sec summons to attend investigation. She eventually left Leb without the 10k salary she was owed. Who will hold Mazen accountable?

Nakhle Gabriel "Gabriel Services" is a recruiting agent. TIL has rec'd complaints of sexual assault by him from women of different nationalities. Their stories are remarkably similar. Gabriel forced them to perform oral sex on him. 1/4 @Roylea1Nakhle @DrEricRuto

TIL negotiated Fulmaya's release and part payment of her salary. She is still owed $29,500. The Keusseians are defiant b/c of a doc she signed at the consulate waiving her rights. A doc signed in English (which she doesn't know), in front of her employers, without a translator.

The agreement does not include a minimum wage, relies on Lebanese laws which do not apply to migrant workers, and could open the way for passport confiscation

TIL contacted the MoL Mustapha Bayram asking him to assist Marta but received no response. Qassem Bayram & Rana Eid have yet to be investigated for the abuses. TIL is concerned that they continue to 'employ' other MDWs and subject them to egregious abuses.
