USA 19 households (of 190 million) now own 14% of the country's wealth.
Those who celebrate @elonmusk's $1 trillion fortune need to be reminded of a simple and vital truth: That there is a fundamental tension between extreme wealth and the very possibility of democracy.

They have staked their claims. The model of Hansen et al. postulates higher climate sensitivity to CO2 & higher aerosol cooling than IPPC. If they are right, 2026 will overtake 2024 to be the hottest year on record...& those living after us will get fried. jimehansen.substack.com/p/ye…

Reminiscent of the Hilary Clinton trades in the commodity markets - "legalizing" payments to politicians and their families.
Since taking office last year, the Trump family has amassed a staggering $2.3 billion fortune from crypto deals alone. Any crypto legislation needs to stop the massive conflict of interests posed by Donald Trump and his family’s crypto ventures.

59 years ago today, Israel attacked the USS Liberty in international waters. 34 crew members were killed and 174 were wounded by the IDF. Today, I spoke on the House floor to honor the fallen and to recognize the survivors who were present in the gallery.

Crazy that this is getting barely any coverage. This year’s European Press Prize was just awarded to an investigative report by the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. It is entitled “What the Wounds Tell” and in it the journalists Maud Effting and Willem Feenstra document the cases of 114 children in Gaza under the age of 15 who were struck by a single bullet to the head or chest. Almost all of them died or were left severely disabled. They chose to document only the cases of boys and girls under the age of 15 (though often much younger: aged 3, 4 or 7) because these are children who can be immediately identified as such. “A single bullet in these parts of the body is a clear indication that these children were deliberately targeted“, the two journalists write. This is the article: volkskrant.nl/kijkverder/v/2…
